We recently carried out a full house clearance in the Scottish Borders for a client who needed to clear their late mother’s home before selling it. The house had been lived in for decades and contained a mix of antique, vintage, and modern household items. The client wanted to ensure that valuable items were sold to cover the clearance costs, while everything else was either donated or responsibly recycled.

Customer Requirements

“My mother’s house has to be fully cleared before we put it on the market. There’s a mix of furniture, books, and kitchenware, along with a garage full of tools and miscellaneous items. I’d like anything useful to go to charity rather than being thrown away. I need a team who can handle everything efficiently.”

The House Clearance in the Scottish Borders

We arrived at the property in the morning and did a walkthrough with the client. They pointed out a few sentimental items they wished to keep before we began sorting and clearing the home.

Living Room & Bedrooms

The living room contained a collection of mid-century teak furniture, a display cabinet filled with porcelain figurines, and a large selection of hardback books. We carefully sorted the books, keeping aside valuable first editions for resale and packing the rest for donation.

In the bedrooms, we found an antique oak wardrobe, a Victorian dressing table, and a 1920s armchair, all of which were ideal for resale. Clothing in good condition was packed for donation, while worn-out textiles were sent for recycling.

Kitchen & Dining Room

The kitchen and dining area contained an oak dining table with four chairs, a set of vintage cutlery, and various kitchen appliances. The dining set was set aside for resale, while the small appliances and general kitchenware were packed for donation to a local charity shop.

Garage & Attic

The garage contained an assortment of tools, gardening equipment, and an old wooden workbench. Usable tools were donated, while broken or rusted items were recycled. The attic had boxes of old photographs, vintage postcards, and a collection of oil lamps. Valuable items were kept for resale, and sentimental items were returned to the client.

By the afternoon, the house was completely cleared and left in a tidy condition, ready for the next steps.
