We recently completed a free house clearance in Bonnyrigg for a client who needed their late aunt’s home cleared before putting it up for sale. Below, we’ll outline their requirements and how we carried out the clearance.
Customer Requirements
“My aunt’s house in Bonnyrigg needs to be fully cleared. She was a collector of all sorts, so there are lots of antiques, books, and furniture throughout the house. The attic and garage are also full, and I haven’t had the time to go through them properly. I’d like to keep anything valuable or sentimental, but I need a professional team to handle the heavy lifting and make sure everything is sorted efficiently.”
Contents Overview
The house contained a diverse range of items, including:
- A Victorian oak dining table with six upholstered chairs.
- Two large bookshelves filled with classic literature, poetry, and history books.
- A collection of porcelain figurines and antique tea sets.
- A roll-top writing desk with drawers full of old letters and documents.
- A piano in the sitting room that hadn’t been played in years.
- An attic packed with trunks containing vintage clothing, old photographs, and keepsakes.
- A garage filled with tools, old gardening equipment, and a few pieces of vintage furniture.
The House Clearance in Bonnyrigg
Our team arrived early in the morning and began with a full walkthrough of the property with the client. We identified items they wanted to keep, including some family photographs and important documents, before starting the clearance.
We started in the main living areas, carefully sorting the books and antiques. The porcelain figurines and tea sets were packed securely, with some being donated and others set aside for auction. The roll-top desk was carefully emptied, and any personal documents were returned to the client.
The attic took longer due to the sheer amount of items stored over the years. We sorted through each trunk, ensuring that sentimental items like photographs and letters were preserved. Clothing in good condition was donated, while anything beyond use was responsibly recycled.
The final challenge was the garage, which contained a mix of tools, furniture, and miscellaneous household items. Usable tools were donated to a local workshop, and any broken or rusted items were taken for recycling.
By the afternoon, the property was fully cleared, swept, and left in a tidy state, ready for the next steps.
Client Review
“I was amazed at how efficiently the team worked. They handled everything with great care, especially the antiques and sentimental items. It was a huge relief to have the house completely cleared without the stress of doing it myself. I’d highly recommend them to anyone needing a professional and respectful house clearance service.”
