We were recently contacted by a client in Acomb, Northumberland, who needed a full house clearance for a three-bedroom property that had belonged to their late parents. The house had been lived in for decades, accumulating a wide range of items, including antiques, furniture, and everyday household goods. The family wanted a professional service to sort through everything efficiently, ensuring any valuable or sentimental items were set aside before the rest was either sold, donated, or recycled.
Client’s Request
The client’s main priorities were:
-
Identifying any valuable antiques and collectibles
-
Ensuring unwanted items were donated to charity where possible
-
Clearing the house, garage, and garden shed completely
-
Leaving the property clean and ready for sale
The House Clearance Process
Living Areas & Bedrooms
The living room contained a selection of mid-century furniture, including a teak coffee table and a beautifully carved oak display cabinet. Inside the cabinet, we discovered a collection of crystal glassware and porcelain figurines, some of which held significant value. The bedrooms had vintage wardrobes, a hand-carved bed frame, and several framed artworks, one of which turned out to be a limited-edition print by a well-known artist.
Kitchen & Dining Area
The kitchen featured an extensive collection of blue and white china, a 1960s enamel bread bin, and a full vintage cutlery set in a wooden case. The dining area had a solid oak table with matching chairs, along with a selection of silver-plated serving dishes. We made an offer on several items, which the client accepted.
Garage & Garden Shed
The garage contained a variety of old woodworking tools, a well-maintained cast iron stove, and a collection of brass candlesticks. The garden shed held a vintage cast iron bench, terracotta plant pots, and an assortment of gardening tools.
