Free House Clearance In Alnwick & Charity Donations

We recently completed a full house clearance in Alnwick for a couple who had inherited a family home. The house had been occupied by an elderly relative for many years and contained a mix of antique, vintage, and modern furniture, as well as a variety of collectibles. The family wanted the house cleared efficiently, with any valuable items sold to cover the cost and as much as possible donated to charity.

Customer Requirements

“We inherited my grandmother’s house in Alnwick, and it needs a full clearance before we can put it on the market. There are a lot of old and antique items, along with more modern furniture and general household goods. We’d like anything valuable to be sold, and anything useful to be donated rather than thrown away.”

The House Clearance in Alnwick

Our team arrived early in the morning and conducted a walkthrough with the family. They had already set aside a few sentimental items they wished to keep, including some photographs and personal mementos. Once that was done, we began the clearance process, carefully sorting through each room.

Living Room & Bedrooms

The living room contained a large Victorian mahogany bookcase filled with old books, an oak sideboard, and a three-seater leather sofa. The bookcase was a valuable antique, so we set it aside for sale. The sofa was still in good condition and was donated to a local charity shop.

In the bedrooms, we removed an Edwardian dressing table, an Art Deco wardrobe, and several bedside cabinets. The dressing table and wardrobe were identified as valuable and set aside for sale. The bedside cabinets and a modern bed frame were donated.

Kitchen & Dining Area

The kitchen contained a selection of vintage crockery, including a 1950s tea set and several Staffordshire pottery plates. Some of these were collectible and worth selling, while others were donated to a local charity. The dining room featured a solid oak dining table with four matching chairs, which were in excellent condition and donated.

Garage & Attic

The garage contained an assortment of tools, a vintage Singer sewing machine, and an old wooden chest. The sewing machine was still in working order and was valuable enough to sell. The tools were sorted, with some being sold and others donated to a local community workshop.

In the attic, we discovered several trunks filled with vintage clothing, a collection of vinyl records, and some old military memorabilia. The vintage clothing was assessed, with some items being valuable and others suitable for donation. The vinyl records included rare editions, making them ideal for resale. The military memorabilia, including medals and documents, were returned to the family.

By the afternoon, the house was completely cleared, and we left it clean and ready for sale.
