We were recently called to carry out a full house clearance in Annitsford after a client inherited a two-bedroom terraced property from a distant relative. The home hadn’t been lived in for quite some time, and although it appeared modest from the outside, it contained a surprising variety of older furniture, vintage collectibles, and general household items. The client, who lived outside the area, needed a full clearance completed quickly and with minimal fuss.
Client’s Requirements
-
Full clearance of all rooms, including the attic and small rear shed
-
Identification and purchase of any antiques or saleable items
-
Donation of all usable furniture, clothing, and kitchenware
-
Responsible recycling and disposal of anything damaged or unsellable
-
Completion within a single day due to limited access
The Clearance Process
Living Room & Bedrooms
The living room featured a charming 1960s sideboard and a retro television cabinet with a built-in radio. We purchased both due to their growing popularity with mid-century collectors. A box of old cigarette cards was discovered under the sofa—some dating to the 1920s—which we also purchased.
The bedrooms had simple furnishings, including a small oak wardrobe, two bedside tables, and a pine chest of drawers, all of which were in good condition and donated. In one of the drawers, we discovered a neatly organised coin collection, which we appraised and purchased after the family gave permission.
Kitchen & Attic
The kitchen contained a selection of classic earthenware mixing bowls, a wall-mounted spice rack, and a vintage biscuit tin collection. We bought the mixing bowls and biscuit tins, while the rest of the kitchenware—such as cutlery, crockery, and cooking pans—was donated to a local charity.
The attic had been used primarily for storage and contained old suitcases, photo albums, and a 1950s electric fan. The family requested that we preserve the photographs for review, while we purchased the fan and a vintage sewing kit found inside one of the cases.
Shed & Outdoor Area
The small garden shed held some older hand tools, a cast-iron boot scraper, and a vintage metal watering can. All were donated to a local community gardening group. A rusted but decorative wrought iron wall bracket was removed and later sold after cleaning.

Client Feedback
The client was delighted with how smoothly and efficiently the clearance was handled, particularly given the short timeframe. They appreciated that valuable items were handled professionally and that most of the furniture and household goods were donated rather than discarded. With the house now cleared and ready, they could move forward with the next steps in settling the estate.
