We were contacted by a family in Belford who needed a full house clearance after inheriting a relative’s property. The house had been in the family for generations, and over time, it had become a storage space for various antiques, vintage furniture, and household items. The family wanted everything cleared efficiently while ensuring that valuable and sentimental items were identified.
Client’s Request
The property needed to be emptied completely, including the attic and outbuildings. The family was keen on selling any valuable antiques and donating as many usable items as possible to local charities.
The House Clearance Process
Living Room & Dining Area
The living room contained an impressive oak sideboard filled with porcelain and glassware. After carefully sorting through the contents, we discovered a set of early 20th-century Royal Doulton plates and a collection of cut crystal glassware. The dining area had a Victorian mahogany dining table and chairs, which we advised could be sold to an antique dealer.
Bedrooms & Attic
The bedrooms contained a mix of vintage wardrobes, dressers, and bedside tables. In one of the wardrobes, we found a box of old military medals and documents from the First World War, which we returned to the family. The attic, which had not been accessed for years, contained several trunks filled with old books, postcards, and vintage clothing. Some of these items were kept by the family, while the rest were donated.
Garage & Outbuildings
The garage housed an array of tools, gardening equipment, and a vintage bicycle in excellent condition. The shed contained an old wooden workbench, and behind it, we found a cast-iron fire grate, which was later sold to an architectural salvage company.
