We recently completed a free house clearance in Blyth, Northumberland, for a client who needed to clear out their late mother’s home. The house had been lived in for decades and contained a mix of antique, vintage, and modern items. The client wanted everything cleared quickly so the property could be put on the market but also wanted to ensure that useful items were either sold or donated rather than sent to landfill.
Customer Requirements
“My late mother’s house in Blyth needs to be fully cleared so we can prepare it for sale. She kept a lot of furniture, ornaments, and general household goods, but we don’t have the time to go through everything ourselves. We’d like a professional team to handle it efficiently, making sure anything valuable is sold, and anything in good condition goes to charity.”
The House Clearance in Blyth
Our team arrived early in the morning and walked through the house with the client. We identified a few sentimental items they wanted to keep, including family photographs and some personal documents. Once these were set aside, we began the full clearance.
Living Areas & Bedrooms
The living room contained a mix of modern and older furniture, including a mid-century teak sideboard, a collection of Royal Doulton figurines, and a large leather sofa. The antiques and collectibles were set aside for resale, while the sofa, which was in excellent condition, was donated.
In the bedrooms, we cleared out wardrobes filled with clothing, shoes, and accessories. All usable clothing was packed for donation, and any personal effects were handed back to the family. The bedroom furniture included a Victorian dressing table, a pine chest of drawers, and a modern double bed, which we carefully removed.
Kitchen & Dining Room
The kitchen had a solid oak dining table with matching chairs, vintage dinnerware, and a variety of modern appliances, including a nearly new microwave and slow cooker. The table and vintage dinnerware were added to the resale list, while the small appliances were donated to a local charity.
Garage & Loft
The garage contained a variety of tools, an old Raleigh bicycle, and several garden ornaments. Usable tools and the bicycle were donated, while broken items were responsibly recycled. The loft was packed with old newspapers, books, and miscellaneous household items, which we sorted carefully.
By the afternoon, the house was completely cleared, and the client was relieved to see it ready for the next stage of the process.
