We were recently contacted by a family in Corbridge who needed a full house clearance after inheriting a relative’s property. The house, a charming stone-built cottage, had been in the family for generations and was filled with a mix of antique furniture, collectibles, and general household items. The family wanted everything removed so they could prepare the house for sale but also hoped to see valuable items sold and reusable goods donated rather than discarded.
Client’s Request
“Our great-aunt’s house in Corbridge needs to be fully cleared before we can put it on the market. There are some antique and vintage items inside, but we’re unsure what’s valuable. We’d like any worthwhile pieces to be sold, and the rest donated or recycled where possible. We want to avoid landfill as much as we can.”
The House Clearance Process
Living Room & Study
The living room contained a large Georgian mahogany display cabinet filled with porcelain figurines and antique books. The cabinet was a high-quality piece, making it suitable for resale. The porcelain figurines included a mix of Victorian and early 20th-century pieces, with some collectible ones set aside for sale. The books, including some first editions, were also assessed for value.
In the study, we found a vintage oak writing desk and a matching chair, both in excellent condition. These were ideal for resale due to their craftsmanship. There was also a collection of handwritten letters and old photographs, which the family wanted to keep.
Bedrooms & Dining Area
The bedrooms contained Victorian-style wardrobes, a large pine chest of drawers, and a wrought iron bed frame. The chest of drawers was a desirable vintage item, making it suitable for resale, while the wardrobes were donated to charity. The bed frame, although still sturdy, was donated as well.
The dining area featured a solid oak dining table with six chairs, a beautiful piece that was ideal for resale. A collection of silver-plated serving trays and cutlery was also set aside for valuation.
Kitchen & Utility Room
The kitchen contained a mix of modern and vintage kitchenware. A 1960s enamel bread bin, an antique copper kettle, and a collection of stoneware jars were among the most interesting finds, and these were set aside for sale. The remaining kitchenware was donated to charity.
Garage & Loft
The garage contained a collection of woodworking tools, a vintage cast iron fireguard, and an old wooden trunk. Many of the tools were still in good condition and were donated to a local community workshop. The fireguard was a decorative piece that was set aside for resale. The wooden trunk, which contained a selection of old postcards and maps, was also examined for valuable items.
The loft contained several boxes of mixed household goods, including some vintage textiles and a set of Edwardian lace tablecloths, which were suitable for resale. Most other items were donated.

Client Feedback
“The team did an incredible job clearing my great-aunt’s home. They were professional, efficient, and respectful throughout the process. It was great to know that so many of her belongings were being reused or sold rather than simply thrown away. I highly recommend their services.”
