Free House Clearance In Ellington & Charity Donations

We were recently called to a house clearance in Ellington, a quiet village in Northumberland. The property, a three-bedroom bungalow, had been home to an elderly gentleman who had passed away. His family, who lived outside the area, needed the house cleared before they could put it on the market. They were particularly concerned about identifying any valuable or sentimental items before the clearance took place.

Client’s Request

“We need a full clearance of my late father’s bungalow in Ellington. He had lived there for over 30 years, and while we’ve taken what we want to keep, there may still be some valuable items we aren’t aware of. We’d like the process to be as quick and stress-free as possible.”

The House Clearance Process

Living Room & Study

The living room contained a collection of mid-century furniture, including a teak sideboard, a pair of G Plan armchairs, and a retro record player. The sideboard and armchairs were still in excellent condition, making them highly desirable for resale. The record player, a classic 1970s model, was also valuable, especially as it came with a collection of vinyl records spanning rock, jazz, and classical music.

The study revealed a fascinating collection of antique books, some dating back to the early 1900s. Among them were first editions and rare historical volumes, including books on British military history and Northumberland’s local heritage. These were carefully assessed, with the more valuable editions sold to collectors and specialists.

Bedrooms & Loft

The bedrooms contained solid wood furniture, including an elegant Edwardian dressing table and a set of mahogany bedside cabinets. The dressing table, with its intricate carvings and beveled mirror, was a standout piece that we set aside for an antiques dealer. The cabinets were in excellent condition and suitable for resale.

In the loft, we discovered several boxes of old postcards, photographs, and personal letters. Many of the postcards depicted Northumberland’s landmarks and had collector’s value. The family decided to keep these, along with a vintage camera collection that had belonged to their father.

Kitchen & Garage

The kitchen contained a mix of modern appliances and vintage kitchenware, including enamel bread bins, Mason Cash mixing bowls, and a set of cast iron cookware. The cookware was particularly sought after and was put aside for resale.

The garage housed an assortment of tools, fishing equipment, and an old Raleigh bicycle from the 1960s. The bike, in need of restoration, was still valuable and was sold to a specialist. The tools were donated to a local community project, while the fishing equipment was assessed for resale.

Client Feedback

“The team handled everything so professionally and with great care. They made sure we didn’t miss anything important, and it was a relief to know that many of my father’s belongings were either being reused or sold to collectors. The whole process was efficient and stress-free. Highly recommended!”
