We recently completed a free house clearance in Haltwhistle for a client whose elderly mother had moved into assisted living. The family needed the house emptied before putting it on the market, and they wanted a professional service to ensure that useful items were either resold or donated rather than sent to landfill.
Customer Requirements
“My mother’s house in Haltwhistle needs a full clearance as she’s now in a care home. There’s a mix of older furniture, household items, and some collectibles. We’d like to keep a few sentimental items, but everything else needs to go. Ideally, we’d like items to be reused or donated where possible.”
The House Clearance in Haltwhistle
We arrived early in the morning and began by going through the house with the client to identify any personal belongings they wanted to keep. Once those were set aside, we started systematically clearing each room.
Living Room & Bedrooms
The living room contained a three-piece suite, a wooden coffee table, and a display cabinet filled with porcelain figurines and glassware. The suite was in good condition but not particularly valuable, so we arranged for it to be donated. The porcelain figurines were carefully assessed, with some set aside for resale and others donated.
The bedrooms included solid wood wardrobes, a chest of drawers, and an antique dressing table. The wardrobes and drawers were modern and donated to a local charity, while the antique dressing table was ideal for resale due to its craftsmanship and age.
Kitchen & Dining Area
The kitchen contained a range of appliances, including a microwave, kettle, and toaster, all of which were in good working order and donated. The dining area featured an oak dining table with four chairs, which was set aside for resale due to its quality and demand.
Garage & Storage Areas
The garage contained various tools, an old bicycle, and a collection of garden ornaments. The tools were assessed, with usable ones donated and others sold individually. The bicycle, though slightly aged, was still functional and donated to a local charity shop. The garden ornaments were mostly modern and were donated as well.
By the afternoon, the house was completely cleared, and we ensured it was left clean and tidy for the client.
