We were recently contacted by a family in Haydon Bridge who needed a full house clearance after inheriting a property from a late relative. The house, a charming stone-built cottage, had been in the family for generations and was filled with a mix of antique furniture, vintage collectibles, and everyday household items. The family requested a sensitive approach, ensuring that any personal or sentimental items were set aside before the clearance was completed.
Client’s Request
The family asked us to:
-
Sort through belongings to recover any sentimental or valuable items
-
Clear all furniture and household items from the property
-
Ensure that reusable items were donated rather than sent to waste
-
Leave the house clean and ready for future use
The House Clearance Process
Living Room & Bedrooms
The living room featured a selection of period furniture, including a Victorian writing desk and an early 20th-century rocking chair. In the bedrooms, we discovered an antique brass bed frame, several pieces of vintage clothing, and a collection of old postcards and letters tucked away in a chest of drawers. These personal items were set aside for the family.
Kitchen & Utility Areas
The kitchen was well-equipped with a mix of modern and vintage kitchenware. Among the finds was a 1960s enamel bread bin, a full set of bone china teacups, and a traditional cast iron cooking pot. Some of these items were donated, while others were purchased by our team.
Garage & Garden Shed
The garage contained a selection of old woodworking tools, a vintage metal trunk, and a well-preserved 1930s hand-cranked sewing machine. The garden shed, meanwhile, held a variety of terracotta pots, garden ornaments, and hand tools, all of which were sorted for resale or donation.

Client Feedback
The family was relieved to have the property fully cleared without the stress of sorting through decades of belongings on their own. With the house now empty and cleaned, they were able to move forward with their plans for the property’s future.
