We recently carried out a free house clearance in Hexham for a client who needed their late uncle’s property emptied before finalizing its sale. The house had been occupied for decades and contained a mixture of antique, vintage, and modern household items. The client wanted to ensure that reusable items were donated and any valuable pieces were sold to help cover clearance costs.
Customer Requirements
“My uncle’s house in Hexham needs a full clearance. He was a keen collector, and the house is packed with furniture, books, and various antique and modern household items. I don’t have the time to sort everything, but I’d like to keep any sentimental pieces. I’d also prefer as much as possible to be reused or donated instead of going to waste.”
The House Clearance in Hexham
Our team arrived in the morning and met with the client to go through the house. We identified personal belongings the family wanted to keep, including old letters, photographs, and a collection of war medals. Once these were set aside, we began the clearance.
Living Areas & Bedrooms
The living room featured a large Victorian mahogany bookcase filled with classic literature and history books. Many of the books were collectible, so we set them aside for resale. The room also had a Chesterfield sofa and a Victorian side table, both in good condition and marked for sale.
In the bedrooms, we cleared out solid wood wardrobes, a vintage writing desk, and various personal effects. The wardrobes and desk were in excellent condition, so they were added to our resale list. Clothing, bedding, and soft furnishings in good condition were packed up and donated to charity.
Kitchen & Dining Room
The kitchen contained a mix of modern and vintage cookware. We sorted through the items, selecting a full set of vintage china to resell, while the modern kitchenware was donated. The dining room featured a solid oak table with chairs, a display cabinet with glassware, and an antique clock. The clock was a valuable piece, so we added it to the resale items, while the glassware and dining furniture were donated.
Garage & Attic
The garage was filled with old tools, gardening equipment, and a collection of vintage bicycles. The tools and bicycles were in good condition, so we marked them for resale. Meanwhile, the attic contained several old trunks, a stack of vintage newspapers, and some old suitcases. The trunks were ideal for resale, while the newspapers were given to a local collector.
By mid-afternoon, the property was fully cleared, and we made sure to leave it tidy and ready for sale.
