We recently completed a free house clearance in Kelso, Scottish Borders, for a client who needed their late father’s home emptied before finalizing the sale of the property. Below, we outline their situation and how we carried out the clearance.
Customer Requirements
“My father’s house in Kelso needs a full clearance. He lived there for over 40 years, so there are a lot of belongings, including furniture, books, and collectibles. I’d like to keep any personal paperwork, family photographs, and a few sentimental items, but everything else needs to be cleared. If anything can be donated, I’d prefer it to go to charity.”

The House Clearance in Kelso
We arrived at 9 AM and conducted a walkthrough with the client to confirm which items they wanted to keep. Any sentimental belongings, such as family photographs and important documents, were set aside for them.
The living room contained a mix of antique and modern furniture, which we carefully sorted. The more valuable pieces were set aside for resale, while everyday household items were sorted for charity donation.
The kitchen had a selection of quality cookware and small appliances, many of which were in excellent condition and suitable for donation. We ensured that all unwanted perishable food was properly disposed of.
The bedrooms contained a mix of vintage and contemporary furniture, along with wardrobes full of clothing. We carefully packed up items for resale and boxed up wearable clothes for donation.
The loft and garage took extra time due to the number of stored items. We uncovered several valuable collectibles, including an old set of Meccano, vintage enamel signs, and a wooden carpenter’s tool chest. Any broken or unusable items were responsibly recycled.
By mid-afternoon, the property was fully cleared, swept, and left in a clean and presentable condition.
