Free House Clearance In Longbenton & Charity Donations

We were contacted by a client in Longbenton who needed a complete house clearance for their late aunt’s home. The property, a three-bedroom semi-detached house, had been in the family for over 50 years and contained a mix of modern and antique furnishings, as well as a variety of collectibles. The family requested a swift clearance to prepare the house for sale, with a focus on identifying valuable items and donating as much as possible to local charities.

Client’s Requirements

  • Full house clearance, including loft and garage

  • Identification and purchase of antiques and collectibles

  • Donation of usable furniture and household items

  • Responsible recycling of any unsalvageable items

  • Completion within one day

The Clearance Process

Living Areas & Bedrooms

Upon entering the living room, we immediately noticed a beautiful mahogany sideboard and a set of Royal Doulton figurines displayed in a glass cabinet. After assessing their value, we purchased the figurines and arranged for the sideboard to be donated. We also found a collection of vinyl records, including some rare pressings, which we purchased from the family.

In the bedrooms, we sorted through wardrobes and storage chests, uncovering a set of sterling silver cutlery and a vintage designer handbag. The cutlery set was in excellent condition and was purchased, while the handbag was donated along with several bags of clothing and bedding.

Kitchen & Dining Room

The kitchen held an assortment of antique glassware, including cut crystal decanters and a set of Art Deco champagne flutes, both of which we purchased. Everyday items such as crockery, cutlery, and small kitchen appliances were boxed up and donated to a local charity shop.

The dining room featured a large oak table and a set of six chairs, which were in excellent condition. We arranged for them to be donated to a local community center, where they could be put to good use.

Garage & Loft

The garage contained a variety of vintage tools, an old petrol can, and a cast iron fireguard. The tools were donated to a local workshop, while we purchased the fireguard and petrol can due to their collectible value.

The loft held a treasure trove of old family items, including a 1950s Bakelite radio and a collection of pre-war postcards. The family decided to keep some of the postcards for sentimental reasons, but we purchased the radio and the remaining postcard collection.
