Free House Clearance In Monkseaton & Charity Donations

We were contacted by a family in Monkseaton who needed a complete house clearance following the passing of their elderly father. The detached property had been in the family for decades and contained a mix of antique furniture, collectibles, and everyday household items. The family wanted to ensure that any valuable pieces were identified, while the rest of the items were either donated or disposed of responsibly.

Client’s Requirements

  • Full house clearance, including loft and garden shed

  • Identification and purchase of valuable antiques

  • Donation of furniture and household goods to local charities

  • Recycling of unusable items to avoid landfill waste

  • Completion within a single day to prepare for an upcoming property sale

The Clearance Process

Living Room & Bedrooms

The living room featured a stunning oak bookcase filled with a collection of vintage and first-edition books. After carefully sorting through them, we identified several rare titles, which we purchased. The bookcase itself was donated, along with an Edwardian armchair and a set of brass fireplace tools.

In the bedrooms, we uncovered a selection of Victorian silverware, a hand-painted Chinese vase, and an assortment of jewelry. The silverware and vase were of significant value, so we purchased them on the spot. Several pieces of mid-century furniture, including a walnut dressing table and bedside cabinets, were in excellent condition and were donated to a local charity.

Kitchen & Loft

The kitchen contained an array of antique kitchenware, including a copper jelly mold set and a 19th-century ceramic bread bin, both of which we purchased. Everyday items such as plates, cutlery, and cookware were boxed up and donated.

The loft housed an assortment of family heirlooms, including a set of military medals, a collection of vintage postcards, and a Victorian travel trunk. The family chose to keep the medals for sentimental reasons, but we purchased the postcards and trunk.

Garage & Garden Shed

The garage contained a selection of woodworking tools, an old cast iron stove, and a vintage Singer sewing machine. We purchased the sewing machine and cast iron stove, while the tools were donated to a local community workshop.

The garden shed had several old bicycles, a collection of terracotta pots, and a wrought iron bench. The bench and bicycles were in good condition and were donated, while the terracotta pots were given to a local gardening charity.
