We recently carried out a free house clearance in Newbiggin-by-the-Sea for a client who needed their late father’s bungalow emptied. The property had been in the family for decades and contained a mix of antique, vintage, and modern furniture, as well as various household items. The client wanted a full clearance service that ensured valuable items were resold and usable goods were donated to charity.
Customer Requirements
“My father’s bungalow in Newbiggin-by-the-Sea needs to be completely cleared. There’s a lot of furniture, ornaments, and old tools in the shed. I’d like to keep a few sentimental pieces, but everything else needs to be removed. If anything can be sold or donated, that would be ideal, as I don’t want things going to waste.”
The House Clearance in Newbiggin-by-the-Sea
We arrived in the morning and began by identifying items the client wanted to keep, including some family photographs and a collection of military medals. Once those were set aside, we started the full clearance.
Living Room & Bedrooms
The living room contained a solid oak display cabinet, a Victorian-style armchair, and a collection of decorative porcelain plates. The oak cabinet and armchair were valuable and ideal for resale, while the porcelain plates were a mix of collectible and everyday items—some were set aside for sale, and others were donated.
The bedrooms included a vintage wooden wardrobe, a set of bedside tables, and a modern chest of drawers. The wardrobe was a quality piece with resale potential, while the bedside tables and chest of drawers were in good condition and donated to a local charity shop.
Kitchen & Dining Area
The kitchen had a full set of 1960s retro crockery, along with various small appliances. The crockery set was desirable among collectors and was added to our resale inventory. Usable small appliances, including a kettle and toaster, were donated to a local charity supporting low-income families.
The dining area featured a large pine dining table with matching chairs, which were still in good condition and were donated.
Shed & Garage
The shed and garage contained a collection of old tools, a vintage push lawnmower, and a fishing tackle box. Many of the tools were still usable and were donated to a community workshop, while the vintage lawnmower was a rare find and added to our resale list. The fishing tackle box, containing a mix of vintage and modern equipment, was assessed, with valuable pieces resold and others donated.
By mid-afternoon, the house was fully cleared, and we made sure it was left clean and ready for the next stage of the client’s plans.
