We were recently contacted by a couple in Ovingham who needed a full house clearance for a property they had inherited. The home had belonged to a relative who had lived there for over 50 years, and it was filled with a mix of antique furniture, collectibles, and general household items. The family was keen to ensure that anything of value was identified, and that as much as possible was donated rather than discarded.
Client’s Request
The family asked us to:
-
Sort through the belongings to recover any sentimental or valuable items
-
Clear all rooms, including the attic and garden shed
-
Ensure reusable items were donated to charity
-
Leave the house empty and clean for potential resale
The House Clearance Process
Attic & Bedrooms
The attic contained a collection of old trunks, some filled with vintage clothing, war medals, and a small selection of silverware. In the bedrooms, we discovered an antique dressing table, a set of Edwardian bedside cabinets, and a beautiful Art Deco mirror. The family kept the war medals and some sentimental keepsakes, while the rest was sorted for resale or donation.
Living Room & Kitchen
The living room featured a large oak sideboard, a collection of vintage vinyl records, and a mid-century coffee table. In the kitchen, we found a full set of blue and white porcelain dinnerware, a 1950s bread bin, and a well-preserved copper kettle. Some of these items were highly desirable, and we were able to make an offer on several pieces.
Garage & Garden Shed
The garage contained a variety of tools, some of which were old but still usable. Among the finds were a vintage oil lantern, a wrought iron bench, and a wooden carpenter’s toolbox filled with hand tools. The garden shed also had a collection of ceramic plant pots, an old cast iron chiminea, and a selection of garden ornaments.

Client Feedback
The couple was extremely pleased with the service, particularly with how efficiently we handled the sorting process. They were relieved to see the house emptied so quickly and were happy that many items had been repurposed rather than sent to waste. With the property now cleared, they could move forward with their plans to sell it.
