We recently completed a free house clearance in Prudhoe for a family handling the estate of their late father. The house had been lived in for over 40 years and was filled with a mix of antique furniture, modern household goods, and a large number of personal belongings. The family needed the house emptied quickly to prepare it for sale but wanted to ensure as much as possible was reused rather than discarded.
Customer Requirements
“Our father’s home in Prudhoe needs a full clearance. He collected a lot over the years, including furniture, books, and various antique items. We’ve already removed sentimental things, but the rest needs to be sorted and cleared. We’d prefer to see usable items donated rather than wasted, and any valuable pieces can be sold to cover the cost of the clearance.”
The House Clearance in Prudhoe
Our team arrived early in the morning and started by walking through the property with the family to confirm any remaining items they wanted to keep. Once these were set aside, we began systematically clearing each room.
Living Room & Bedrooms
The living room contained a beautiful Edwardian display cabinet, a three-seater leather sofa, and a collection of framed artwork. The artwork included some vintage prints that we marked for resale, while the leather sofa, still in great condition, was donated to a local charity. The display cabinet was carefully packed and transported for resale.
The bedrooms contained a mix of traditional and modern furniture, including a large oak wardrobe, a vintage dressing table, and several sets of bedside drawers. The wardrobe and dressing table were both high-quality vintage pieces, so they were set aside for sale, while the modern drawers and unused bedding were donated.
Kitchen & Dining Room
The kitchen featured a large selection of modern appliances, cookware, and tableware. We sorted through everything, keeping high-quality vintage china and a set of silver-plated cutlery for resale. The rest, including pots, pans, and small appliances, was donated.
The dining room contained a large oak dining table with six chairs, an antique sideboard, and a collection of crystal glassware. The glassware was carefully packed for resale, while the dining table and sideboard were donated to a local charity shop.
Garage & Loft
The garage was packed with old tools, car accessories, and garden equipment. We sorted everything, selecting a vintage tool chest and some collectible car memorabilia for resale. The rest, including working power tools and gardening items, was donated.
The loft contained several old suitcases, vintage magazines, and an assortment of bric-a-brac. The vintage magazines were valuable to collectors, so they were kept for sale, while the bric-a-brac was donated or responsibly recycled.
By the afternoon, the entire house was cleared, and we gave it a final sweep to leave it tidy for the family.
