Free House Clearance In Seahouses & Charity Donations

We were recently contacted by a client in Seahouses who needed a full house clearance for their late father’s coastal cottage. The property, located near the harbour, had been in the family for decades and contained a mix of antique furniture, fishing memorabilia, and everyday household items. The family wanted a compassionate and professional service to handle the clearance, ensuring that anything of value was identified while donating or recycling the rest.

Client’s Request

“Our father was a keen fisherman, and the house has a lot of old fishing equipment, nautical collectibles, and general household furniture. We’d like to know if anything is valuable before it’s removed, and we’d prefer as much as possible to be donated rather than thrown away.”

The House Clearance Process

Living Room & Bedrooms

The main living area contained solid wood furniture, including a beautiful 19th-century pine dresser, an oak corner cabinet, and a collection of vintage coastal paintings. The dresser and cabinet were identified as valuable and later sold to a local antique dealer, while the paintings were kept by the family.

The bedrooms had a mix of mid-century and traditional furniture, including a vintage brass bed frame, an Art Deco dressing table, and various maritime-themed ornaments. Some items were donated, while others were passed on to a collector specializing in nautical antiques.

Garage & Fishing Equipment

The garage contained a lifetime’s collection of fishing gear, including wooden lobster creels, vintage reels, and a brass ship’s bell. We arranged for the more valuable pieces to be sold through a specialist, while the remaining functional fishing gear was donated to a local angling club.

Additionally, we uncovered a set of rare Northumberland coastal maps, which the family decided to keep due to their historical significance.
