Free House Clearance In Seaton Burn & Charity Donations

We were recently approached by a client in Seaton Burn who required a full clearance of a three-bedroom semi-detached property. The house had belonged to their late grandparents and had not been lived in for over a year. The family needed everything removed to prepare the property for renovation, but they were keen to preserve any items of value and donate anything that could still be of use.

Client’s Requirements

  • Full house clearance, including loft, garage, and a brick-built outhouse

  • Identification and fair purchase of antiques and collectables

  • Donation of reusable household goods and furniture

  • Responsible disposal of anything broken or unsellable

  • Clearance to be completed within one day

The Clearance Process

Living Room & Bedrooms

The living room contained a vintage three-piece suite, a 1950s radiogram, and a collection of family photos and decorative ornaments. While the photos were boxed and returned to the family, the radiogram was in working condition and purchased, while the suite was donated to a local charity.

In the bedrooms, we uncovered a mid-century wardrobe, a walnut dressing table, and a selection of hand-crocheted blankets. We purchased a set of silver-plated candlesticks found in the dressing table drawer and donated the rest of the furniture and linens.

Kitchen & Loft

The kitchen had a mix of modern and retro items. A full set of Hornsea pottery mugs and jars was found neatly stored in a cupboard—these were purchased, while the rest of the kitchenware was donated.

The loft revealed several old trunks, a 1930s Bakelite telephone, and a box of sheet music. The telephone and sheet music were of interest to collectors and were purchased. The remaining contents of the loft, including textiles and miscellaneous bric-a-brac, were sorted for charity.

Garage & Outhouse

The garage housed an old garden roller, rusted but decorative, which we purchased along with a vintage fishing rod and tackle box. The outhouse contained various gardening tools, a wooden seed storage cabinet, and a folding deck chair—all of which were donated.

Client Feedback

The family was grateful for the care we took in handling sentimental items and identifying those with potential value.
