Free House Clearance In Seaton Sluice & Charity Donations

We were recently contacted by a client in Seaton Sluice who needed a full house clearance after inheriting a property from a relative. The house, a three-bedroom coastal home, had not been lived in for some time and contained a mixture of antique furniture, collectables, and general household items. The family wanted the property emptied quickly so they could begin renovation work before putting it on the market.

Client’s Request

“My uncle’s house in Seaton Sluice needs clearing as soon as possible. There are a lot of old items inside, some of which might be valuable. We’d like anything worth selling to be assessed, while the rest can go to charity or recycling. The house is full, so we need a professional team to handle everything.”

The House Clearance Process

Living Room & Study

The living room featured a solid oak sideboard, a Victorian mahogany bookcase, and a collection of Royal Doulton figurines. The bookcase, which was in excellent condition, was set aside for resale, while the sideboard was donated to charity. The Royal Doulton figurines were assessed, with several being valuable enough to be sold.

In the study, we discovered an antique roll-top writing desk, an assortment of fountain pens, and a collection of first-edition books. The desk was a beautiful piece and was ideal for resale. The fountain pens, including some vintage Parker and Waterman models, were also valuable and sold through a specialist dealer. The books were checked individually, with some first editions being valuable enough to sell.

Bedrooms & Dining Area

The bedrooms contained Edwardian-style wardrobes, an antique dressing table, and a collection of vintage clothing. The dressing table, made of solid walnut with an ornate mirror, was highly desirable and set aside for resale. The wardrobes, while still functional, were donated to a local charity. The vintage clothing included a selection of 1940s and 1950s dresses, which were boxed for a specialist vintage shop.

The dining area had a solid pine farmhouse table with six matching chairs. The table showed signs of wear but had plenty of character, making it a great candidate for resale. We also found a set of silver-plated cutlery and a collection of crystal glassware, both of which were assessed for value and sold.

Kitchen & Garage

The kitchen contained a mix of everyday household goods and some collectible items, including a 1930s enamel bread bin, an old cast iron scale, and a set of vintage ceramic storage jars. These were all suitable for resale. The remaining kitchenware was donated.

The garage contained an assortment of tools, a vintage Singer sewing machine, and several boxes of old fishing equipment. Many of the tools were still in working condition and were donated to a community workshop. The Singer sewing machine was a classic piece and was set aside for resale. The fishing equipment, including a few vintage wooden reels, was also assessed for value and sold.
