Free House Clearance In Seghill & Charity Donations

We were recently contacted by a client in Seghill who needed a full house clearance for their late mother’s home. The three-bedroom semi-detached property had been in the family for over 40 years and contained a mix of antique and vintage items, as well as general household goods. The family wanted to ensure that any valuable or sentimental items were identified before clearing the rest of the contents efficiently.

Client’s Request

“Our mother’s home in Seghill needs to be cleared before we put it on the market. It’s a family home with a lot of sentimental pieces, so we’d like any valuable or special items identified. The rest can be donated or recycled where possible. We also need the property cleared quickly so we can begin redecorating.”

The House Clearance Process

Living Room & Dining Room

The living room contained a collection of antique and vintage furniture, including a Victorian corner cabinet, a 1960s teak coffee table, and a display case filled with porcelain figurines and commemorative plates. The cabinet and coffee table were in good condition, so we set them aside for resale. The porcelain figurines included a selection of Royal Worcester and Coalport pieces, some of which had considerable value.

In the dining room, we discovered a large oak dining table with six matching chairs, along with a sideboard filled with cutlery and glassware. The dining table had some signs of wear but was still a desirable piece, making it suitable for resale. The sideboard contained a mix of silver-plated and sterling silver cutlery, as well as lead crystal decanters. We carefully assessed each piece, with the sterling silver set put aside for sale and the rest donated.

Bedrooms & Attic

The bedrooms contained a mix of Edwardian and mid-century furniture, including a beautiful Art Deco dressing table and a set of solid pine wardrobes. The dressing table, featuring a large round mirror and curved drawers, was an excellent find and was sold to an antiques dealer. The wardrobes were still in great condition and were donated to a local charity.

The attic held an assortment of items, including old trunks filled with vintage clothing, a collection of wartime memorabilia, and several boxes of vinyl records. Among the memorabilia were a set of World War II medals, old military documents, and a well-preserved RAF uniform. The family decided to keep these sentimental items. The vinyl records included classic rock, jazz, and blues albums, some of which were valuable enough to sell.

Kitchen & Garage

The kitchen contained a variety of retro kitchenware, including a 1950s enamel bread bin, a set of Pyrex dishes, and vintage storage tins. These were sorted, with some items put aside for resale and the rest donated.

In the garage, we found an old cast iron fireplace surround, a set of woodworking tools, and a collection of fishing rods and tackle. The fireplace surround was an excellent piece for restoration and was sold. The tools were donated to a local community workshop, while the fishing equipment was assessed and partially sold.
