We were recently contacted by a client in Shiremoor who needed a full house clearance after inheriting their late parents’ home. The property, a three-bedroom semi-detached house, had been lived in for over 40 years and was filled with a mix of antique furniture, vintage collectibles, and everyday household items. The family wanted the house emptied quickly to prepare it for sale but also wanted to ensure that valuable items were identified and that as many belongings as possible were donated to charity.
Client’s Requirements
-
Full clearance of the house, garage, and garden shed
-
Identification and appraisal of antiques and valuables
-
Donation of reusable household items to local charities
-
Responsible recycling of unsellable or unusable items
-
Clearance completed within a single day
The Clearance Process
Living Areas & Bedrooms
The living room contained an impressive collection of vintage porcelain figurines, along with a mahogany display cabinet and a mid-century coffee table. Inside the cabinet, we found a selection of 1930s glassware and a boxed silver-plated tea set, which we appraised and purchased.
Upstairs, the bedrooms held a mix of antique and modern furniture, including a Victorian dressing table and a well-preserved Edwardian writing desk. A selection of vintage handbags and a box of costume jewelry were also discovered, both of which were evaluated and purchased.
Kitchen & Loft
The kitchen contained an assortment of retro enamel cookware, a boxed cutlery set, and an old cast iron frying pan. The family opted to sell the more valuable items, while the remaining kitchenware, including plates, cups, and utensils, was donated to charity.
In the loft, we uncovered a set of old travel trunks, a collection of family photo albums, and several war medals, which were set aside for the family.
Garage & Garden Shed
The garage housed a variety of old tools, a vintage Raleigh bicycle, and a collection of workshop signs, all of which we purchased. The garden shed contained assorted gardening tools, plant pots, and an antique wooden wheelbarrow, which was donated to a local community gardening project.

Client Feedback
The family was incredibly pleased with how smoothly the clearance was handled. They were grateful that we took the time to identify valuable pieces, ensuring they received a fair price. The house was left completely clear and ready for sale, allowing them to move forward with their plans stress-free.
