A family in Wallsend contacted us to clear out their late father’s three-bedroom semi-detached home. The property had been in the family for over 40 years and contained a mix of furniture, collectibles, and general household items. They wanted to ensure that anything of historical or monetary value was identified and fairly appraised, while the rest of the belongings were either donated or disposed of responsibly.

The Clearance Process
Bedrooms & Living Room
The main bedroom contained a large Victorian wardrobe and a collection of vintage clothing, some of which were in excellent condition. We appraised the wardrobe and a selection of clothing for resale, while the remainder was donated to a local charity shop.
In the living room, we discovered a set of 1930s Art Deco lamps, a mahogany coffee table, and a selection of porcelain figurines. These were carefully assessed, and we offered the client a fair price for them. Additionally, there was a cabinet filled with old books, some of which were first editions. The most valuable books were purchased, while others were set aside for donation.
Kitchen & Loft
The kitchen contained an assortment of copper cookware, vintage enamel tins, and a well-preserved 1950s bread bin. The client opted to sell the more valuable kitchen items, while the rest, including a selection of plates and cutlery, was donated.
The loft was full of boxes, some of which had not been opened in decades. We carefully sorted through them and uncovered a collection of old postcards, war medals, and a stamp album. The client chose to keep the war medals as they had sentimental value, while we purchased the stamp collection and vintage postcards.
Garden Shed & Garage
The garden shed contained a variety of tools, a classic Singer sewing machine, and an old wooden chest. The tools were sorted, with some donated to a local community project and the more valuable items purchased.
The garage had several vintage car manuals, a 1970s radio, and a set of cast-iron fire irons, all of which we purchased. A number of unwanted electrical items were responsibly recycled.
