Free House Clearance In Wideopen & Charity Donations

We were recently contacted by a client in Wideopen who required a full clearance of their late mother’s detached bungalow. The family had already removed sentimental belongings but needed the rest of the property emptied swiftly to prepare it for sale. The house had been lived in for over 45 years and included a mixture of traditional furniture, vintage items, and everyday household goods.

Client’s Requirements

  • Complete house clearance, including the garage and loft

  • Identification and fair purchase of antiques and collectibles

  • Donation of usable furniture and household items

  • Environmentally responsible disposal of damaged goods

  • Clearance to be completed in one working day

The Clearance Process

Living Room & Bedrooms

The living room featured a well-kept oak sideboard, a nest of G-Plan tables, and a collection of commemorative plates from the 1970s and 80s. The G-Plan tables and several of the collectible plates were purchased, while the sideboard was donated to a local furniture charity.

In the main bedroom, we discovered a pair of matching Victorian bedside cabinets and a mahogany dressing table. The cabinets were appraised and purchased, while the dressing table, though too bulky for resale, was donated to a reuse centre. A small tin of vintage brooches and hat pins was also found in one drawer and added to our purchase list.

Kitchen & Loft

The kitchen contained a variety of well-maintained cookware and crockery, including a boxed set of 1960s Pyrex mixing bowls and an enamel bread bin—both of which we purchased. Modern utensils, pans, and a microwave were donated.

In the loft, we uncovered several boxes of books, a vintage child’s pram, and a WWII-era gas mask in its original box. The gas mask and pram were purchased due to their collectability, while the books were boxed and donated to a local charity bookshop.

Garage & Garden Items

The garage was home to a solid old workbench, various tools, and a retro 1970s oil lantern. We bought the lantern and selected tools, and arranged for the rest to be donated. The garden area contained several planters, a wrought iron bench, and a rusty but ornate garden arch. The bench and planters were cleaned and donated, and the arch was responsibly disposed of due to excessive corrosion.
