Free House Clearance In Wylam & Charity Donations

We were recently contacted by a client in Wylam who needed a full house clearance after inheriting their late aunt’s home. The property, a charming three-bedroom cottage, had been in the family for generations and was filled with antique furniture, books, and decorative items collected over the years. The client wanted to ensure that anything valuable was identified, and they preferred that usable items be donated where possible.

Client’s Request

“Our aunt’s house has been in the family for a long time, and we need to clear it before selling. We know there are some antiques and old books, and we’d like to make sure anything of value is set aside. We’d also love for anything usable to go to charity rather than be wasted.”

The House Clearance Process

Main Living Areas

The living room contained several antique furniture pieces, including a Victorian mahogany writing desk, a Georgian corner cabinet, and a collection of porcelain figurines. The desk was identified as a high-value item and later sold to an antique dealer. The corner cabinet was in excellent condition and was also sold on behalf of the family.

Bedrooms & Loft

The bedrooms held a mix of vintage and modern furniture, as well as a large collection of classic literature. Among the books, we found several first editions, including a rare early edition of a Charles Dickens novel, which was later sold at auction. The loft had been used for storage and contained a trunk filled with old textiles and vintage clothing, many of which were donated to a local heritage charity.

Garage & Shed

The shed was filled with old gardening equipment, bicycles, and various tools. One of the more interesting finds was a set of 1930s woodworking tools, which were still in excellent condition. These were sold to a local collector, while the rest of the usable tools were donated to a community workshop.

Items Sold:

  • Victorian mahogany writing desk

  • Georgian corner cabinet

  • Rare early edition of a Charles Dickens novel

  • 1930s woodworking tool set
