Free House Clearance Innerleithen – Case Study

We recently carried out a house clearance in Innerleithen for a client who needed to clear their late father’s cottage before putting it on the market.

Customer Requirements

“My dad’s cottage in Innerleithen needs to be cleared. It’s a small place, but it’s packed with years’ worth of belongings, including furniture, books, and old tools. There’s also a loft with boxes that haven’t been touched in decades. I need a team to clear everything efficiently while being mindful of anything that could be of value.”

Contents Overview

The cottage contained a mix of everyday items and sentimental belongings, including:

  • A well-loved leather armchair and matching footstool
  • A solid oak writing desk filled with old letters and paperwork
  • A large bookshelf packed with history books, novels, and local maps
  • A wooden sideboard with vintage crockery and glassware
  • Several wardrobes containing clothes, coats, and old hiking gear
  • A loft filled with storage boxes, family memorabilia, and old newspapers
  • A garden shed packed with woodworking tools, paint tins, and gardening equipment

The House Clearance in Innerleithen

We arrived in Innerleithen early in the morning to meet James, the client, who wanted to take a final look through some of his father’s belongings before we started. We worked room by room, carefully removing furniture and sorting items for donation.

The writing desk contained personal documents and old letters, so we made sure James had the opportunity to check through everything before deciding what to keep. Books in good condition were boxed up and donated to a local charity shop.

The loft was packed with old storage boxes, which we carefully brought down in sections. James found a few family keepsakes he wanted to keep, and the rest was cleared.

The final challenge was the garden shed, which contained various old tools and equipment. Usable items were set aside for donation, while broken or rusted pieces were disposed of responsibly.

By early afternoon, the cottage was completely cleared, leaving James with a fresh space ready for the next steps.

Client Review

“I can’t thank the team enough. They made the whole process smooth and stress-free, giving me the time I needed to check through my dad’s things while handling everything else professionally. It’s a huge relief to have the cottage cleared and ready for sale. Highly recommended!”
