Free House Clearance Longniddry – Case Study

We recently completed a free house clearance in Longniddry for a family who needed the property emptied after their elderly relative moved into assisted living. Below, we’ll outline the client’s requirements and how we carried out the clearance efficiently.

Customer Requirements

“My mother’s house in Longniddry needs to be cleared as she’s now in full-time care. The house has been in the family for decades, and while we’ve taken what’s sentimental, there’s still a lot left—furniture, clothing, kitchenware, and a garage full of tools. We’d like everything cleared properly, and if possible, anything useful donated rather than just thrown away. The property is going up for sale soon, so we need it done quickly.”

Contents Overview

The house contained a variety of items, including:

  • A large oak dining table with matching chairs.
  • A vintage china cabinet filled with decorative porcelain and glassware.
  • A well-used but functional three-seater sofa and two armchairs.
  • Bookshelves filled with novels, cookbooks, and local history publications.
  • A bedroom suite including a wardrobe, dressing table, and bedside cabinets.
  • A loft filled with boxes of old photographs, Christmas decorations, and unused bedding.
  • A kitchen full of crockery, cookware, and small appliances.
  • A garage stacked with garden tools, old bicycles, and storage boxes.

The House Clearance in Longniddry

Our team arrived early and started with a walkthrough of the house to confirm any last-minute items the family wanted to keep. Once that was settled, we began the clearance.

The living and dining areas were tackled first, with the dining set and bookshelves packed for donation. The porcelain and glassware were carefully sorted, with valuable pieces set aside for the family’s review.

The bedrooms were next, with furniture removed efficiently while ensuring that any personal items left behind were double-checked. The loft was one of the more time-consuming areas, as it was full of decades-old keepsakes. We carefully boxed up sentimental items for the family while removing anything else for recycling or disposal.

Finally, we cleared the garage, sorting through tools and storage boxes. Usable garden tools were donated to a local community gardening project, while anything broken or unusable was responsibly disposed of.

By the end of the afternoon, the house was completely cleared and left tidy, ready for its next chapter.

Client Review

“The team made the whole process so easy for us. We were dreading the clearance, but they handled everything quickly and with care. I really appreciate that they donated so much instead of just dumping it. It’s a relief to have the house empty and ready for sale. Would absolutely recommend them!”
