Hoarded House Clearance Case Study In Stoke-on-Trent:
Good Afternoon, I am requesting a quote to have a three bedroom bungalow house clearing service in the Stoke-on-Trent area.
My mum who has recently moved into residential care, lived in the house for over 20 years, she has been a compulsive hoarder for as long as I can remember and has left the house floor to ceiling with rubbish and junk.
I have removed as much of her stuff as physically possible (things that were within reach), she has told me that she has a jewellery box in her main bedroom at the back which she wants to be kept, this room can’t be accessed.
The only accessible rooms are the lounge, the kitchen and the bathroom, the hallway leading to the bedrooms has been completely filled with piles of rubbish and junk.
The rubbish and junk is covered in webs and dust.
My mum has been hoarding for such a long time, I can only advise on rooms I have seen, the worst seems to be the hallway leading to the bedrooms, this is floor to ceiling, the kitchen has empty food packaging covering the floors and bench tops, all the appliances need to be removed too as they are very old.
The lounge is where my mum has lived from, there is a single electric bed and mattress, a three-piece sofa suite, a large cabinet, a coffee table, a small folding dining table and a sideboard, there is also a huge amount of ornaments, glass ware, and obviously rubbish piled high.
I would appreciate it if your team could donate anything that can be reused.
We are looking to get the bungalow into a salable state, everything needs to go including appliances and carpets.
Thank you, Elaine.

Hoarded House Clearance Case Study In Stoke-on-Trent Continued:
We agreed with Elaine that it would take one day with a team of six of our specialists to clear the whole bungalow.
The team started at 9am and began the clearance of the lounge first.
Once the lounge had been cleared, the team used this as a room to store items to be donated and any valuable items for Elaine.
Once the lounge had been cleared, the team split into two to clear the kitchen and bathroom.
The kitchen looked as though it hadn’t been used in many years, rotted food waste smothered the benches and floors, the fridge and freezer had been switched off for quite some time causing a terrible stench, this waste had to be disposed of at a specialist recycling centre.
The bathroom was small with bags of rubbish filling the bath tub and sink, the floor had been lined with packaging waste and toilet roll.
Once these rooms were cleared, the team together tackled the hallway, they managed to find a large amount of usable items amongst the rubbish to donate to charities on elaines behalf, these items included books, gift sets, ornaments and crockery.
It took two hours to clear the hallway with numerous trips to the recycling centre.
Once the hallway had been cleared, the team split into three teams of two to tackle the bedrooms, the main bedroom must have been where her mum began hoarding first, huge piles of clothes and boxes covered the bedroom floor and bed, we managed to find her jewellery as well as other small items of value including some antiques which we kept to one side for Elaine.
One of the bedrooms had been used as a knitting room, most of the furniture and knitting appliances were able to be donated to charity along with books, clothing and bedding.
The third bedroom had been used as a storage room, mainly filled with boxes of ornaments, Christmas decorations and unwanted furniture.
Once the bungalow had been cleared, the team went through to remove the carpets throughout.
Elaine could not have been more pleased with the final result as she believed it could have took up to a week to clear.
